Cayucos Elementary School District recently gathered parents together for a productive and engaging evening to discuss the upcoming CAASPP testing season. This Parent Partnership Training Event was primarily focused on educating parents on what to expect this year, with a vital emphasis on supporting students’ social-emotional wellbeing, reducing test anxiety, and building confidence and resilience.

Cayucos believes a happy, confident student is a successful one – instead of focusing solely on scores, the school encourages the community to celebrate effort and growth. The training night, led by Superintendent Jen Gaviola and Principal Lisa Jensen, highlighted the importance of keeping pressure low and encouragement high. This includes fostering positive conversations at home, teaching students breathing techniques to center themselves, and reminding them that their hard work is what matters most.

This evening was a powerful reminder of the impact of a strong parent-school partnership. When we align our efforts, we do more than just lower test anxiety – we transform the testing experience from a hurdle into an opportunity for growth. Together, we are building a foundation for student success that goes far beyond the classroom.
